Our attentive live-in chef has developed menus that complement the trail experience, showcasing local and regional ingredients accompanied by regional wines and micro brew beers. The meals are delicious and so far beyond what you would think you'd be eating on a hike. Everything is made from base so we can cater for dietary requirements, from a simple food dislike to the most serious allergy. Meticulously planned to deliver low GI, slow releases of energy over the day we know you will want to pack chef in your bags and take him home. But like all good sustainable walkers, you should leave things where you find them!

bothfeet walking lodge is an environmentally sustainable award winning lodge located 30 minutes from the nearest town and 3 hours from Melbourne. It is a modern architecturally designed eco-development that incorporates many best practices: self sufficient water supply, on site waste water treatment, low consumption electric and water fittings, hydronic heating, composting, kitchen garden. That said, we aren't a boot camp! We provide hair dryers in your room, have a range of in house La Gaia toiletries and can readily cater for special dietary requirements. The lodge has mobile coverage (with Telstra only) and wireless internet with power points in your room to charge batteries. We offer rooms in either King or twin share with private ensuite. We can also divide our rooms into two single rooms each with internal access to the bathroom. We don't charge a single supplement for this. Friends travelling together request single at time of booking. People booking as a single walker will be automatically given a single room with share bathroom..

You can expect to see wallabies, kangaroos, echidnas, koalas and and hear nocturnal small marsupials such as bandicoots, sugar gliders and antechinus. Birds include wedge tail eagles, cockatoos, galahs and rare hooded plovers on the beaches between Cape Otway and Johanna. Water birds are abundant at Aire River and we have over 50 species of birds sighted on the bothfeet lodge property by keen spotters.

We are ever conscious of the impact on the environment your visit makes and take care to leave no trace. We choose local suppliers and operate one facility in the most sustainable way we can. It's the way we combine these experiences that makes for a memorable hiking experience, leaving you quite simply, lost for words. bothfeet has attained the highest level of eco-certification (Advanced) for BOTH our hikes AND lodge operation with ECO Tourism Australia so you can walk in comfort knowing we have considered the impact on the trail and our community. Keeping it small, to no more than 12 people, adds to the enjoyment and minimises the impact. As a licenced tour operator we are required to walk east to west to preserve the quality and condition of the trail.
