Well, actually, all our Great Ocean Walks have been endorsed as Advanced Eco-Certified by Eco Tourism Australia, a great honour and a fabulous endorsement of the quality of walk we are delivering along Victoria's south west coast. |
What is Ecotourism?
"Ecotourism is ecologically sustainable tourism with a primary focus on experiencing natural areas that fosters environmental and cultural understanding, appreciation and conservation". This means that an accediated ecotourism operator should show you our wonderful natural environment with a commitment to and respect for the local land managers, be it indigenous or government. Is bothfeet an accredited operator?
In November 2007, bothfeet's 3, 4 and 6 Day Great Ocean Walks were all certified as Advanced Eco Tourism products by Australia's peak body, Ecotourism Australia. This means we have reached the highest level possible in our operations under their criteria, making a daily contribution to ensuring as minimal an impact as possible on the Great Ocean Walk and the Otway ranges as a whole.
 Look for this symbol as a way of ensuring a quality and certified eco tourism experience from a sustainable tourism operator.
How is bothfeet helping to make tourism sustainable?
We want to make sure the tracks and trails we use can continue to be trekked and enjoyed for generations to come. That's why we participate in the following programs to make sure tourism is sustainable and responsible: Earthwatch: bothfeet is a business supporter of international conservation group Earthwatch. To find out more visit www.earthwatch.org Conservation Volunteers: We are a business supporter of conservation volunteers Australia and support our guides to participate in local and national programs organised to support our fragile tourism environments. www.conservationvolunteers.com.au Friends of the Great Ocean Walk: this is a new project that is in its' infancy. bothfeet is helping Parks Victoria to support the maintenance of the walk through volunteer programs and track condition feedback.
